The skills development program was established
by Human Resource Development Canada.
The purpose of the Program is to provide financial
support to unemployed eligible individuals in acquiring
skills through education and training. Eligible candidates
will demonstrate in their employment action plan (Return
to Work Action Plan-- RTWAP) that the lack of skills
is an
obstacle to employment and that the training or education
requested constitutes the most direct route to employment.
Who can apply?
1. All people for whom an unemployment
benefit period has been established or has ended
within the 36 months prior to the date of requesting
assistance; or
2. All people for whom a benefit period that included
a maternity or parental claim has been established
within the 60 months prior to the date of request
for assistance, after which the individual remained
out of the labour market in order to care for a newborn
or newly adopted
child and is now seeking to re-enter the labour force.
How to apply?
To apply for the skills development program, it is
necessary to meet a case-manager or employment counselor
at the employment resource center of ACFO of London-Sarnia.

an employment action plan and will process
